This just in!
Many who attend our Introduction to Boat Systems or Cruising 101 FUNdamentals 2-day Seminars also join us as we offer a Sunday morning walking tour of a boatyard….and if you can’t get into our sold-out 2-day seminar then you are welcome to join us for our Sunday morning Boatyard Tour too!
What you may see on your boatyard tour- boats on the hard in different stages of service including:
- shafts
- props
- struts
- rudders
- zincs
- cutlass bearings
- stabilizers
- thru-hull fittings
- anti-fouling paint
- blister repair
- swim platform brackets
- thrusters-bow & stern
- single engine
- twin engines
And you will learn by seeing different hull designs including:
- full displacement
- semi-planing
- planing (and yup! that’s how you spell it when the boat flies like a plane on the water)
Whew! Now after you see these boats out of the water you will understand what you are looking at. This type of walk-thru can help you appreciate and expect the maintenance of your present boat or be a better informed buyer for your next boat purchase. Don’t forget to scroll through the photos below and watch the video of one of trips to the boatyard to see a few samples of what you may encounter.
This Boatyard Tour will be led by Captain Chris and takes place in Fort Pierce about 15 miles south of Vero Beach. We will begin the tour at 9am on Sunday following the seminar and it will conclude before 12 noon. Lunch will be on your own but we can recommend a few waterfront locations with great eats. If you’d like to join us for $40 per person just email us for upcoming dates or call 772-205-1859- even if you can’t attend the seminar. Most of our clients find this an eye opening experience.
