Anchors That Didn’t Hold and Low Tides That Left You High and Dry

When anchoring match the bottom type and depth with the proper anchor and scope. Be sure to allow for tidal current changes and enough swing room that doesn’t put you hard aground.

Plow anchors are good for hard sandy bottoms. They will PLOW through mud. From Georgia to the Chesapeake a Bruce, Claw, Danforth or Max would be a better choice.

Mark your rode so you will know how much scope is out. Don’t forget to include anchor roller to water level plus water depth at high tide when you calculate your scope.
