This couples-oriented two-day seminar happens on the waterways of America! We offer tricks and tips on boat handling with an emphasis on team work. The husband and wife team of Captains Chris and Alyse Caldwell will teach you how to formulate a plan and effectively communicate together while cruising.

Please scroll down for more details and photos of the latest fun two-day couples cruising class in Baltimore. We are aboard a terrific trawler, the Kadey Krogen 58. Are you a FaceBook regular to see even more pics?

Each couple is given the opportunity to be both the ‘captain’ and ‘first mate" before switching roles. Training aboard includes:

Communicating, Vessel Systems Review, Docking, Anchor Techniques, Basic Maintenance, Navigation and Trip Planning. In addition to boat handling, these are all important experiences to master as a couple.

Before starting the engines, we cover all lifestyle systems that make boating comfortable in this Kadey Krogen trawler. Staterooms, a modern galley and where to stow everything are some of the many features to learn about. The pilot house and flybridge allow us to review the essentials of navigation come rain or shine. Throughout the two day course we share what works in the real world...and sometimes what doesn't.

Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a terrific location for TrawlerFest University. Overlooking the marina we see a gorgeous Chamber of Commerce day!
The Blue Krewe are in the holy place doing checks before we leave the dock. That's right- the WHOLE Krewe plus Captain Chris -6 cruisers fit comfortably in this spacious engine room. Come on in & join the party!
The Gold Krewe gets a turn. Look at all the elbow room in this Kadey Krogen 58!
Power line is next but we are waiting for the OK from the Captain before we disconnect from the post on the dock. This model Krogen has a cable master that winds up the heavy yellow power cord, making this pre-cruise task a cinch.
Captain Chris discusses undocking with the Blue Krewe at the helm. First in the pilot house before heading up to the flybridge.
Checking which lines are slack and can be removed first. The side deck of the Kadey Krogen 58 allows the Mate great maneuverability both at lower floating docks and on the upper decks for fixed piers.
Everyone takes a turn at the helm.
Welcome aboard to the Blue Krewe.
